Originally from North Wales, I have been a member of the club since 2019. I really enjoy travelling and a slow realization that the photographs taken my travels were terrible led me to sign-up for the beginners course. Since joining the club, there is no doubt that my photography has improved. I won the novice-only club competition, the Creggan Trophy, in my first year and also a bronze medal for the image 'Breaking Waves' (see below) at the IPF POTY North East regionals (non-advanced).
My main areas of interest are landscapes and seascapes and I enjoy in particular shooting with filters for longer exposures. I want to learn more about composite work but have limited interest in still life and zero interest in taking portraits (except of my dog). I am still trying to get to grips with my Fuji X-T3 having upgraded from a Nikon D3400.
I am currently the club's 'webmaster'. My own website is cath-thomas.com.
I have three Instagram accounts - one where I post a bit of everything, one specifically set up for mono shots and another for what I consider my better images. I hope you take the time to visit and perhaps follow one or all.
